During the show, the three-time Grammy winner and the Argentine producer delivered an electrifying performance of “La Fuerte” and “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” with the latter featuring lyrics about her recent breakup with Gerard Piqué, the aftermath, and his new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

During an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 before her album was released on March 22, Shakira mentioned that there were some team members who were nervous and urged her to modify the lyrics.

“I mean, I’m not some kind of U.N. envoy, you get me? I’m an artist, and nobody can dictate to me how I should find comfort,” she declared. “And nobody should dictate to any woman how she should find solace and mend her broken heart, right?”

Shakira opened up about how she coped with her emotions following her breakup. She expressed that her new song provided her with a way to process her feelings, as she was experiencing a multitude of stages of grief. “I feel like I’ve been through so many stages of grieving, maybe even more than the typical five or seven,” she shared. “It’s crucial to face feelings of anger and denial before reaching acceptance. Each stage is important, and trying to skip them can be detrimental.”
